Every once in a while, a car comes through the shop that requires serious attention to detail to bring it back to where it should be. This Chevrolet Corvette C8 Z06 that came into Thaitan GlossWorks was one of those vehicles.

The car came in for much needed love, requiring an extremely in-depth paint correction and ceramic coating restoration. By the time the project was finished, the transformation was incredible — restoring the vehicle to the level of gloss and clarity it deserved from the beginning.

The Story Behind This C8 Z06

This particular Corvette carries a unique story.

It was actually the first C8 Z06 delivered in Washington State, making it an especially meaningful car for the owner. Unfortunately, shortly after taking delivery, the car received a ceramic coating installation from another shop that failed prematurely.

Instead of protecting the paint, the coating began to haze and distort the finish, leaving the once flawless paint looking dull and cloudy.

When the owner brought the car to us, it was clear that the only proper solution was a complete correction process to remove the failed coating and restore the paint.

Removing a Failed Ceramic Coating

Correcting a failed coating is significantly more difficult than a standard paint correction.

The process required:

• Extensive polishing to remove the hazed coating layer
• Careful paint refinement to restore clarity
• Multiple stages of paint correction to remove defects left behind

Because the coating had bonded improperly to the clear coat, it required substantial polishing work to safely remove it without compromising the factory paint.

Once the defective coating was fully removed, we could begin refining the finish.

After the failed coating was corrected, we completed a major paint correction overhaul to fully restore the finish.
